Visiting Walt Disney World in 2021

There is no denying that 2020 was a crazy year. So crazy, in fact, that many of the repurcussions are spilling into 2021 as well. We recently went back “home” to Walt Disney World to adventure and feel a bit of that Disney magic again. Since visiting, we wanted to share some of the things that we learned from our most recent travels about what it is like to experience WDW during the pandemic and the restrictions at the parks.

So check out our video below for the full details!

First on the list is that we did cover Covid restrictions at the Disney parks in a previous video. You can view that video here if you are interested in seeing the basics.

This video focuses on expounding on those details and sharing our specific experience…boots to the pavement, if you will.

All of the basics are still required at Walt Disney World…

  • Masks (2 years and older)

  • No Fireworks or major shows

  • Social Distancing

  • Park Reservations are still required. A ticket ALONE will not get you into the parks.

Some of the things we noticed…

  • Trash can lids are still pulled back.

  • Hand sanitizer is everywhere! When you enter and exit restaurants. Beofre and after boarding an attraction. At the entrances and exits to the parks. You will not miss hand sanitizer, that’s for sure!

  • The long lines look horrific, but it actually is not that long. Plus, they keep moving pretty much all of the time, which makes it really nice.

A special note for the cavalcades. I know we have mentioned this in previous videos, but we really do love these parade substitutes. The frequency and diversity of them makes it such a treat to experience. Yes, the regular parades are a spectacular, but these have a pixie dust type of magic rather than a big burst of something glorious. It’s small and memorable. We are really hoping something like this sticks around after the parks get a little more normal again.

One other aspect that we wanted to be sure to mention is the fluidity of visiting the Disney parks right now. It definitely does not have the sense of urgency that a trip previously would have. We want to warn you that if you are entering with a “go-go-go” mindset, you are probably going to wear yourself out much faster than you need to. The “get-everything-done-now” approach really does not suit touring the parks at this time. Take it slow. Enjoy the atmosphere. Enjoy the much lower crowds than normal.

What is more… Do not pressure yourself and/or your party to go from open to close in the parks. The offerings are much less, especially without the nightshows. So, if you feel like you need to hurry and also stick it out until the end, you may wear your group out too quickly. Now is the time to relax more. Enjoy seeing the sights, hopping in line again after riding your faovrite attraction, sit on Main Street and take in the music. You may even choose to go back to your room or visit another resort during the hottest part of the day. All we are saying is don’t overdo it here.

Overall, the parks are very different right now and you have to tour them as such. Enjoy taking more of a break. Allow the differences of the way the parks are to dictate what you do next. Your previous methods may not work right now, but that does not mean that you cannot have just as much fun in different ways!

Our most favorite part was laying on Magic Kingdom’s hub grass in the evening without people crowding us to hold their spot for the fireworks. It was peaceful and a memory we will cherish.
