It’s Day 5 for the Generosity Challenge!
The main Scripture for today is Ephesians 5:15-16.
“Be very careful, then, how you live—not as unwise, but as wise, making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil.”
This passage talks specifically about being ready. I want to translate this over to giving as well—ready and strategic giving.
Yesterday, hopefully you began the first, transformative step toward generosity. It does not matter if it was small or not even monetary. The fact is you took the leap. How amazingly freeing!
What truly makes generosity effective is the strategics of it. Paul said above that we need to “be very careful.” The idea that comes from that command is that we need to consider our actions before jumping to them. Right after that, he tells us to “make the most of every opportunity.” We cannot “make the most” of all opportunities presented to us without first considering it and strategizing the best way to use it.
Regardless of what situation in life you are, we could all use more strategies. Taking time to be thoughtful about your generosity can completely change its impact!
Let me give you an example. Think back to a month ago. Do you remember much about the needs of other people back then? If you do, I truly do applaud you! However, I bet most of us don’t remember ALL the opportunities that were around us. Even more that than, how many did you act on?
Think about the last couple of days during this challenge though. Or think about right now. How many more opportunities are you thinking of that you could take action? I am willing to bet it is quite a few more.
Here is the Challenge now!
- Read 2 Corinthians 9:6-12
- Prayerfully consider how you can make your next move in generosity more strategic.
- Pray that God will also open your eyes to all the opportunities and that He will guide you in approaching them.
Immediately take action toward God’s guidance. Don’t let it wait, because that is when you will compromise and decide not to do it. Make the jump now!
